Music

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."

Colossians 3.16

Here at First Baptist Evansville, we consider music an integral part of worship, Christian education, and mission in the life of the church. We use the role of music to glorify the name of Jesus and spread His life, His love, and His message.  We blend traditional hymns with current praise and worship music in accordance to Colossians 3:16.

Sanctuary Choir-This choir, consisting of high school age teens through senior adults, rehearses every Wednesday evening during the school year from 6:30-7:45 pm.  The rehearsals are mostly music, with healthy doses of laughter, caring, and sharing.  We are regularly accompanied by our very talented pianist, with the occasional addition of other instruments.

The Sanctuary Choir leads in the worship service most Sundays.  We enjoy collaborating with other churches to present a variety of musical experiences.  We also sing in various community services and events.

Praise Team-In addition to traditional hymns, our praise team leads a set of contemporary worship songs weekly.  These current praise and worship songs mix well with the more traditional church hymns for a wonderfully blended service.  This team adds energy and excitement to the worship services

(Our Children's choir has temporarily  stopped  during the Covid Pandemic.  We look forward to resuming soon.)

Children's Choir- Our children's choir rehearses every Wednesday during the 2nd and 4th grading periods of the school year from 5:15-6:15 pm.  Children from kindergarten through middle school are welcome to participate.  We learn how to praise God with our voices.  Our rehearsals include singing, fun, and games that teach basic music fundamentals, choral vocal techniques, and Biblical truths.  The children share their music in the worship service 4-5 times during the year.

Special Music- Special music, both vocal and instrumental, is an important part of our weekly worship services.  This is mostly provided by the many talented musicians in our own church family, but also include folks from outside our congregation.
