Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a ministry project of Samaritan's Purse. Members of First Baptist collect toys, clothing, school supplies, candy and empty shoeboxes all year long and organize them in the OCC room. In the fall, packing and wrapping parties are held to prepare the shoeboxes to be sent all over the world. Local churches in hundreds of countries distribute the boxes to happy children. The boxes are filled with an assortment of gifts, but most importantly is the book that they receive. Each child receives a storybook in their own language that tells the story of Jesus.

First Baptist is also a relay center for OCC. Individuals and groups throughout the community bring their filled boxes during the 3rd week of November for National Collection Week. From there, the boxes are sent to the local collection site and then on to a national processing center. Each year, First Baptist members of all ages travel to the processing center in Atlanta to volunteer time in the final stages of shipping the boxes.
